COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M junior Boomer White was one of 60 players named to the Golden Spikes Award watch list as announced by USA Baseball on Wednesday. The Golden Spikes Award annually honors the top amateur baseball player in the country.
White leads the SEC with a .432 (63-for-146) batting average and .506 on-base percentage. In 37 games, he has 30 runs, nine doubles, two home runs and 29 RBI. On the season, White has 20 multi-hit games, including 11 games with three hits.
The third baseman keys an Aggie offense that is averaging 8.2 runs per game and currently owns a school-record string of seven consecutive games scoring 10 or more runs.
In SEC games, White is hitting a mind-boggling .532 (33-for-62) with 14 runs, 33 hits, five doubles, one home run and 17 RBI in 15 games. He owns a .568 on-base percentage and .661 slugging percentage in 15 league contests.
The Golden Spikes Award is sponsored by Major League Baseball and presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation. The 39th Golden Spikes Award will be presented on June 30 in Los Angeles.
