Baylor Softball’s Kendall Potts Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

Posted

WACO, Texas – No. 21 Baylor softball’s sophomore pitcher Kendall Potts capped off a fantastic week of competition, earning Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Potts made four appearances on the week, totaling 13 innings pitched. The sophomore didn’t allow a run over her four outings, which included one start, striking out 14 batters and limiting the opposition to a .100 batting average as she allowed just four hits.

In Tuesday against Houston, she took a no-hitter 6.2 innings before finishing off the complete game shutout that included eight strikeouts.

For Potts, the award is the first in her career, but the fourth this season for the Baylor pitching staff, with Heather Stearns’ three weekly awards this season.

With Lindsey Cargill and Sarah Smith each earning a Big 12 Player of the Week nod earlier this season, the six total weekly honors ties for the most in a year in Baylor program history.

Baylor’s four pitcher of the week awards and six total weekly honors leads the Big 12 conference in both categories.
