Highlassies sweep Grayson

The McLennan Highlassies swept today's conference doubleheader with the Grayson Lady Vikings at Bosque River Ballpark.

The Highlassies shut out the Lady Vikings 1-0 in game one with Kayleigh Williams getting the win in the circle. Williams allowed six hits and struck out two batters in seven innings.

McLennan's only run came in the bottom of the sixth as Elizabeth Svienty drew a walk, stole second and scored on a single by Williams.

The Highlassis defeated the Lady Vikings 8-4 in the nightcap with Chanlynn Turner picking up the win.

McLennan scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Dariann Resendez led off with a double and scored on a double by Marisa Flores. Theresa Gonzales drew a walk but was out at second on fielder's choice by Victoria Gonzales. Serena Saldivar followed with a double to score Flores and Victoria Gonzales.

Grayson got on the board with two runs in the third. Logan Pennartz doubled and Marlee Boyd singled. Pennartz came in to score on a Highlassie error. Alexa Aguilar-Romero then singled to score Boyd. 

The Highlassies added two runs in the bottom of the third as Saldivar and Makayla Hernandez both walked and scored on a triple by Angelina Camacho.

McLennan increased the lead with two runs in the fifth. Victoria Gonzales doubled and scored on a single by Saldivar. Svienty followed with a single but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Hernandez. Saldivar then scored on a ground out by Camacho.

The Lady Viking's final two runs came in the top of the sixth on back-to-back home runs by Taylor Landrum and Pennartz.

The Highlassies roundEd out the scoring with a run in the bottom of the sixth as Flores singled, moved to second on a ground out by Theresa Gonzales, advanced to third on a bunt single by Victoria Gonzales and scored on a ground out by Svienty.
