Junior forward Nina Davis was named an All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) it was announced on Sunday, April 3. With her selection for the second straight year, the Memphis, Tenn., native becomes Baylor’s fourth multiple USBWA All-American selection. Brittney Griner (2011, ’12, ’13) and Odyssey Sims (20012, ’13, ’14) are both three-time honorees while Sophia Young (2005 & 2006) was a two-time recipient.
Davis, who led the fourth-ranked Baylor squad in both scoring and rebounding in 2015-16, averaged 16.3 points and 6.1 rebounds a contest. The Memphis, Tenn., native, finished the season shooting an impressive 54.8 percent from the floor. She led Baylor to a 36-2 record, its sixth straight regular season and Big 12 Tournament crowns and the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight . The three-time All-Big 12 first-team honoree was also named an AP All-American (second team), a WBCA All-American, a Wooden All-American and to the Big 12 Tournament and NCAA Championship Dallas Regional All-Tournament teams.
