WACO, Texas – Baylor softball senior pitcher Heather Stearns earned Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week after another dominating weekend in the circle for the Lady Bears, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Stearns (11-2) went 2-0 in two starts over the UCF Knights, allowing zero earned runs and just three hits in 12.2 innings of work, striking out 15.
For Stearns, the weekly honor is her first since winning both national and conference player of the week on March 1, coming off a dominant no-hitter over Southern Miss and a one-hit, complete game shutout over Mississippi State.
The recognition marks the fifth time Stearns has won the conference award, matching her 2015 total with her second this season.
After leading the league in strikeouts last season, Stearns is well on her way to repeating the feat, currently leading the league by 20 strikeouts with 104 on the season.
Additionally, Heather is leading or second in nearly every other pitching statistical category, including first in ERA (1.75), wins (11), and saves (3). She is currently second in innings pitched (82.1) and opponent batting average (.180).
The Lady Bears take on UTSA on Tuesday, March 22, at 6 p.m. in San Antonio, before returning to Waco to kick off conference play with Texas on Friday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m.
