WACO, Texas - No. 20 Baylor softball (23-6) hits the road for a final nonconference tune-up, travelling to take on UTSA on Tuesday, March 22, at 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio.
Baylor and UTSA will meet for the 25th time, with Baylor holding a 21-13 advantage entering Tuesday’s contest.
In the most recent matchup in Waco, the Roadrunners snapped a 12-game win streak in the series for Baylor, downing the Lady Bears in nine innings, 2-1.
Baylor returns to San Antonio for the first time since April 23, 2014, with Baylor taking the 7-1 victory over the Roadrunners.
This season, UTSA has won five of its last six games, including a sweep of North Texas.
Most recently, UTSA took a series win from Charlotte, losing the first game of the three-game set, before taking the last two contests.
For Baylor, the Lady Bears swept UCF in a three-game home stand, allowing zero unearned runs and just six hits over 21.0 innings.
Baylor has won nine of the last 10 games and maintain a perfect 3-0 record in true road games.
Heather Stearns made two starts over last week’s games, going 2-0 with a combined complete-game shutout and 15 strikeouts.
Gia Rodoni made her debut for Baylor, pitching 1.1 innings with 2 K’s and the save.
