Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s tennis team took the lead after doubles and battled through two lightning delays for a 6-3 victory over LeTourneau University Friday in Belton. The Cru evens its spring record at 2-2 with the victory. The loss drops the YellowJackets to 2-8 on the spring.
UMHB took wins at #1 and #2 doubles for a 2-1 lead going into singles play. Scott Wilding rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win at #2, Brendan Thompson added a 7-5, 6-3 victory at #2 singles and Julian Dunmore clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at #4 singles. Bright Ihezue added a 1-6, 7-6, 10-6 victory at #5 singles for an insurance point in a match that was interrupted by lightning twice and took more than six hours to complete.
It will be a short turnaround for the Cru. UMHB will host Austin College for an 11:00 AM dual match on Saturday.
