The McLennan Highlassies swept today's conference doubleheader with the Ranger Lady Rangers on the road.
The Highlassies took game one 6-2. Kayleigh Williams picked up the win in the circle, recording 12 stikeouts while pitching the complete game.
Ranger began the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first at Abi Haston singled, stole second and scored on a double by Shelby Neatherlin.
McLennan took the lead with three runs in the second. Makayla Hernandez and Andrea Gonzales both singled. Elizabeth Svienty and Angelina Camacho both hit into a fielder's choice. Dariann Resendez drew a walk, bringing Andrea Gonzales in to score. Svienty and Camacho then scored as Marisa Flores was safe at first on a Ranger error.
The Highlassies added a run in the third as Theresa Gonzales was hit by the pitch, moved to second on a single by Victoria Gonzales, advanced to third on a ground out by Serena Saldivar and scored on a bunt by Hernandez.
Ranger scored a run in the bottom of the third. Estella Rivas walked but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Madi Stark. Haston and Payton Tisdale both singled. Neatherlin then reached first safely on an error, bringing Stark in to score.
McLennan's final two runs came in the fifth. Victoria Gonzales singled and moved to second on a Ranger error. Saldivar then singled to score Victoria Gonzales. Saldivar moved to second on a Hernandez single, advanced to third on a bunt by Andrea Gonzales and scored on a fly out by Svienty.
It was all McLennan in the nightcap as the Highlassies run-ruled Ranger 13-0 in five innings. Chanlynn Turner picked up the win, allowing only one hit.
The Highlassies scored seven runs in the second. Victoria Gonzales doubled and scored on a single by Hernandez. Andrea Gonzales and Svienty both singled. Dariann Resendez then doubled to score Hernandez and Andrea Gonzales. Flores followed with a double, scoring Svienty and Resendez. Theresa Gonzales doubled, scoring Flores, and Victoria Gonzales tripled to score Theresa Gonzales.
McLennan added four runs in the third. Hernandez drew a walk and Svienty singled. Faith Aguilar then doubled to score Hernandez. Resendez followed with the three-run homer.
The Highlassies rounded out the scoring with two runs in the fourth. Victoria Gonzales singled and Williams doubled. Victoria Gonzales scored on a ground out by Hernandez. Svienty then doubled to score Williams.
