A man considered to be armed and dangerous is behind bars this morning following a high-speed chase.
According to Waco Police, the chase started in McGregor and at approximately 1:45 a.m., Waco Police assisted in pursuit of the suspect driving a blue Toyota 4-Runner. The driver tried to ditch police several times through neighborhoods in Waco. Finally, police were able to spike the suspect’s tires near the intersection of Mountain View Road and Morningside Drive.
The suspect first tried to drive on flats but then bailed on foot until he was chased down by two police officers on the corner of Bishop Drive and Fairview Drive. He was arrested without incident and booked into the McLennan County Jail, Waco police said.
“The suspect was wanted on two felony warrants out of the county and was known to be violent and belligerent with officers,” said Waco Police Division 1 Sergeant John Allovio. “An alert was put out that said he wanted suicide by cop.”
McGregor Police, Waco Police, Woodway Police, and the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the chase.
This is a developing story.
