A police chase that reached speeds up to 90 mph on I-35 Tuesday afternoon ended with the suspect crashing in a Bellmead neighborhood.
DPS Trooper D.L. Wilson says the high speed chase started about 12:25 p.m. on the northbound side of I-35. After exiting the interstate, the chase then went through Bellmead streets, before the driver crashed near Hogan and Briarwood in a 2005 black Chevy Impala.
At some point during the chase, a female got out of the car at an intersection in Bellmead, but authorities continued to chase after the Impala.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Kason La'Troy Graves, of Waco, was taken to Hillcrest to be checked out after the wreck, but Wilson reports he appeared to be fine. Graves currently faces an evading arrest charge, but additional charges could be added. According to jail records, he also faces a possession of marijuana charge.
DPS is still investigating, and they are unsure at this time why Graves fled.
