UPDATE: A former Killeen High School teacher is set for sentencing on September 8, following a pre-sentence investigation, after pleading to charges Wednesday.

Samuel Caines Jr. pleaded to charges of improper relationship between a teacher and student, as well as a sexual assault charge.

A former Killeen High School teacher faces felony charges for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.

55-year-old Samuel Caines Jr. was arrested this week after a several month long investigation by Killeen police. Detectives determined he had a continuous sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student over a 9 month period.

KISD placed him on administrative leave on February 14, 2014 after learning of the investigation. He has since been fired from the district.

The Bell County Attorney's Office reviewed the case June 18, and Caines was charged with inappropriate relationship between educator and student, a 2nd degree felony. Caines was arraigned on Thursday and released on $100,000 bond.
