COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Mitchell Kranson homered in the bottom of the 14th inning, lifting California past top-seeded Texas A&M 2-1 in the College Station Regional on Saturday night.
Kranson's blast off Ryan Hendrix (5-3) landed just over the outstretched glove of right fielder Nick Banks, sending the Golden Bears out of their dugout in celebration as California (36-19) advanced to the regional championship.
Erik Martinez (3-1) earned the win for Cal, designated the home team in Texas A&M's home park under tournament rules.
Texas A&M (46-12) blew a chance in top of the 13th to score after loading the bases with one out. Nick Banks struck out and G.R. Hinsley grounded out to end the threat. Cal left fielder Brian Celsi also robbed a potential home run by Banks in the 11th with a leaping catch at the wall.
The Aggies take on Coastal Carolina in an elimination game Sunday.
