Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team placed two players on the All-West Region teams released Monday, May 18th. The Cru had one First Team pick and a Third Team selection.

Rob Loewe was voted to the All-West Region First Team as a designated hitter. Loewe, a senior from Waller High School, led the Cru with a .411 batting average and 65 hits this season. He also tied for the team lead with five home runs and his 28 RBI were good for second place on the team. Loewe added 14 doubles and slugged .595 this season.

Aaron Barteau was named to the All-West Region Third Team at starting pitcher. Barteau, a junior right-hander from Dallas Bishop Lynch High School, went 4-3 with a 2.53 ERA this season. He struck out 89 batters in 64 innings pitched and ranked among the national leaders in that category despite missing his last two starters with an injury. Barteau also held opponents to a .218 batting average in his first year as a starting pitcher.

This is the first All-West Region honor for Loewe. Barteau was voted to the All-West Region Third Team as a relief pitcher last year. The Cru went 19-22 overall and posted a 16-14 mark in American Southwest Conference play this season. UMHB advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament for the third straight year.
