McLennan County District Clerk again warns of potential jury duty scam

The District Clerk's Office of McLennan County is again warning residents that a jury duty scam has been reported to their office.

The scam involves a person calling people in McLennan County and telling them that there is a warrant out for the person's arrest for failing to appear for jury duty.

The District Clerk's Office says a warrant can be issued for failing to appear for jury duty, but the person would have received a summons to appear for jury duty before a warrant was issued.

The office says no one from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office would collect any money or arrest someone for failing to appear for jury duty, unless they had appeared in front of a judge first.

Personal information or fine payment will not be asked from any person appearing for jury duty. Jurors are only paid by check by mail.

People are asked to call the District Clerk's Office of McLennan County at 254-757-5054 if you receive a call or question anyone calling you.
