The Temple VA's Olin E. Teague Veterans' Medical Center has canceled all surgeries and procedures for Friday after going into emergency power backup following a power outage Thursday morning.
Temple's VA has been diverting all admissions to other facilities since Thursday morning until they can determine the necessary repairs.
The power outage happened about 7:45 a.m., but they were able to switch to a temporary alternate power source to continue operating regularly. Officials say the outage was caused by issues with the primary electrical feed for the Temple VA.
They switched over to emergency power at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon. All surgeries and procedures have been canceled for Friday. The VA will work with patients to reschedule them as soon as possible.
