A high school student at the Rapoport Academy Public School in Waco has been diagnosed with viral meningitis.

The student is currently at home recovering. Cleaning crews were expected to sanitize the campus Wednesday night.

Parents have been notified about the case, which officials say is the first viral meningitis case at the academy this year.

Viral meningitis is less serious than the bacterial form. Viral meningitis is usually only serious in infants and people with weak immune systems.
