The 42-year-old owner of the Cove Smoke Shack now faces up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to selling synthetic marijuana.

Richard Young Bruce appeared before U.S. District Judge Walter Smith in Waco Thursday afternoon to plead guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

A federal search warrant was executed at the business in November 2014 after undercover purchases of synthetic marijuana. During the search, 150 packets of pre-packaged synthetic marijuana and $20,000 in cash was seized.

Bruce's sentencing is set for July 1.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Killeen Police Department investigated this case.
