Mexia ISD selects new high school football coach

MEXIA, TX — Mexia High School has announced their new athletic director and head football coach.

Mexia ISD said that Triston Abron will be the new head coach for the Mexia Blackcats.

Abron comes from Paul Pewitt High School where he led the team to a 14-2 record and a state championship game appearance in 2019.

"Coach Abron joins Mexia from Paul Pewitt where his team was the 3A, Division II State Semi-Finalists. He was named Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Coach of the Year for 2019. Coach Abron brings a passion for excellence and we are excited about the future of Mexia ISD Athletics," the school said.
