COLLEGE STATION, TX — Texas A&M’s game Clemson on Saturday, Sept. 7, in Clemson, South Carolina is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. (CT) and will be nationally televised on ABC, announced Thursday.
The Aggies and Tigers clashed last season at Kyle Field with the Tigers earning a narrow 28-26 victory. The two-point margin of victory was the lowest of the season for the Tigers as the Aggies’ failed two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute remaining would have tied the game.
Last season’s match up delivered total live audience of 4,486,000 viewers, the most-watched game of the weekend and ranked as cable's second most-watched regular season Saturday game since November 2016, at the time. The viewing audience peaked at nearly 6 million viewers as the Aggies attempted a two-point conversion to tie the game. The thrilling ACC-SEC matchup propelled ESPN to 'win the night' among all broadcast and cable networks, as the network ranked first in all key demos including: households, viewers, men 18-34, men 18-49, and people 18-34.
The Aggies hold a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools. The Aggies earned wins in College Station during the 1974 and 2004 seasons. The contest will mark the third trip for the Aggies to Clemson, splitting the two previous matchups in the Palmetto State. A&M posted a 30-15 victory on October 6, 1973 before dropping a 25-24 result on September 3, 2005.
Texas A&M ended last season on a four-game win streak, the longest active streak in the Southeastern Conference. During the streak the Aggies delivered wins over No. 25 UAB, No. 8 LSU and a convincing Gator Bowl victory over North Carolina State. Clemson enters the 2019 season with the nation’s longest win streak at 15 games after capturing the National Championship with wins over No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 1 Alabama in the College Football Playoff.
Under the direction of head coach Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies finished the 2018 season with a 9-4 record and advanced to a bowl game for the 10th consecutive season. Texas A&M finished the year second in the rugged SEC West, going 5-3 against the league.
Texas A&M opens 2019 against Texas State on August 29 at Kyle Field, a Thursday night contest set to be broadcast on SEC Network.
