INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Texas A&M was named as one of the Top 16 seeds in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee’s reveal Monday on ESPN2. As one of the top-16 seeds if the season ended today, Texas A&M would host first and second round games at Reed Arena.

Texas A&M is the No. 16 overall seed, earning the No. 4-seed in the Greensboro Regional. The Aggies are one of three SEC teams to be named to the top-16.

At 23-6, the Aggies posted their best regular season since 2011, and the third-best in school history. Texas A&M, winners of four straight and 12 of the last 14, are the 3-seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament, earning a bye into the March 8 quarterfinal round.

The top-16 reveal has no bearing on the final 64-team field for the 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship that is announced during the ESPN Selection Special on Monday, March 18, at 6 p.m. The first and second rounds of the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship are played March 22-25 on the home courts of the top 16 seeds.

Texas A&M hosted first and second rounds at Reed Arena in 2012, 2013 and 2014 as a pre-determined site, plus in 2016 and 2018 when the tournament shifted to the 16 highest-seeded teams.
