Texas A&M and Texas face off in a rivalry baseball game Tuesday night

AUSTIN, TX — The No. 11 Texas A&M Aggies renew their most played rivalry Tuesday when they travel to Austin to play the No. 17 Texas Longhorns in a 6:30 p.m. contest at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The game will be televised nationally on FS1 with Dave Barnett (play-by-play) and Pat Combs (color) on the call.

Braden Shewmake enters the game on a 12-game hit streak. During the span, the Wylie, Texas, native is batting .418 (23-for-55) with 13 runs, two doubles, one triple, two home runs and 14 RBI. After batting just .185 (5-for-27) the first eight games of 2019, Shewmake has caught fire the last 22 contests, hitting. 381 (37-for-97) with 19 runs and 29 RBI. He recently moved into 10th place on the Texas A&M’s career RBI list with 144.

The Aggies rank in the top 20 in the nation in numerous pitching categories, including strikeouts per nine innings (2nd - 11.4), K-to-BB ratio (3rd - 4.03), ERA (3rd - 2.56), walks allowed per nine innings (8th - 2.82), WHIP (9th - 1.11), shutouts (15th - 4) and hits allowed per nine innings (18th - 7.13). Individually, Asa Lacy ranks 6th in the nation in strikeouts (68) and strikeouts per nine innings (14.34), 12th in hits allowed per nine innings (4.64), 17th in wins (5), 37th in WHIP (0.89) and 41st in ERA (1.48). John Doxakis ranks 9th in the nation K-to-BB ratio (10.60), 19th in walks allowed per nine innings (1.08) and 41st in strikeouts (45).

Texas A&M and Texas have met on 370 previous occasions with the Longhorns owning a 239-126-5 edge in the series.
