Aggie softball falls to LSU in SEC opener

COLLEGE STATION, TX — Texas A&M Softball dropped the series opener against No. 10 LSU, 17-3, in five innings Friday evening at Davis Diamond.

LSU (20-4, 1-0 SEC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first but the Aggies (15-7, 0-1 SEC) tied the game on a two-run homer from Haley Lee, the second of the season.

The Tigers responded with four runs in the second before the Maroon & White added a run in the third on base hits from Baylee Klingler and Payton McBride.

LSU added three runs in the fourth and eight in the fifth to secure the victory.

Kayla Poynter was saddled with the loss to move to 3-3 on the season. The sophomore gave up eight runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. Hannah Mayo threw 1.2 innings of relief allowing five hits and nine runs, while walking five.
