Aggie baseball heads to Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY — The No. 18 Texas A&M Aggies head to Lexington for their first SEC road series of the season, making their first trip to Kentucky Proud Park to play the Kentucky Wildcats in a three-game series beginning Friday.

The Maroon & White look to continue the momentum gained from the weekend’s series victory over No. 2 Vanderbilt and a midweek win against Rice. After suffering a 7-4 loss in Friday’s opener and falling behind 7-2 after seven innings on Saturday, the Aggies mounted an epic comeback scoring six runs in the final two innings to even the series and then won the rubber match, 7-0. Texas A&M has outscored opponents 21-3 over the last 20 innings with Jonathan Ducoff driving in nine of the runs.

Ty Coleman is warming up, batting .429 (13-for-31) with nine runs and 12 RBI over the last nine games after starting the season at a .214 clip (6-for-28). He earned SEC Freshman of the Week recognition after Texas A&M’s series win against Gonzaga.

The Aggies’ weekend rotation has been one of the nation’s best through the first five weekends. John Doxakis, Asa Lacy, Jonathan Childress and Christian have combined for a 1.73 ERA, .175 opponent batting average, 0.84 WHIP and 5.37 K-to-BB ratio in their weekend starts.

The Aggies rank in the top 20 in the nation in numerous pitching categories, including K-to-BB ratio (4th - 3.95), strikeouts per nine innings (4th - 11.2), shutouts (5th - 4), hits allowed per nine innings (10th - 6.62), WHIP (9th - 1.05), ERA (10th - 2.56) and walks allowed per nine innings (10th - 2.82). Individually, Doxakis ranks 20th in the nation K-to-BB Ratio (10.00), 32nd in strikeouts (40) and 48th in WHIP (0.83). Lacy ranks 21st in the nation in Strikeouts (43), 21st in Strikeouts Per Nine Innings (13.34), 33rd in Hits Allowed Per Nine Innings (4.66) .

Every game of the series is available for viewing on SEC Network +. SEC Network + provides digital-only events to SEC Network subscribers through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices (Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One).
