A&M men's hoops draws Vanderbilt in SEC tournament opener

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Texas A&M men's basketball team was tabbed as the 11-seed for the 2019 SEC Tournament and is set to face 14-seed Vanderbilt on the first day of the tournament, Wednesday, March 13. The game will be the second of the day, following the 12/13 game between Missouri and Georgia, set for 6 p.m. The tournament will run Wednesday through Sunday March 17, being played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

In the only meeting this season between the Aggies and Commodores, A&M claimed a 64-57 win at Reed Arena on Senior Night. Sophomore Savion Flaggled the way in the victory with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while graduate student Christian Mekowulu added 19 points and 12 boards. The winner of the opening-round game will face Mississippi State on Thursday, March 14 in the final game of the day.
