WACO, TX — No. 6 Baylor men’s tennis (13-2) will play three opponents in three straight days at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge presented by Oracle Friday through Sunday, March 15-17, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.

Top-seeded Baylor will open the tournament with a first-round match against Idaho (4-6) Friday at 7 p.m. CT.

Baylor has participated in the event in all six seasons since it was added to the BNP Paribas Open tournament in 2014. BU is 9-5 overall at the event and has won five of its last six matches in the desert dating back to the 2017 season where the Bears went 3-0 to win the tournament.

There are eight teams competing in the BNP Paribas Collegiate Tennis Challenge, including: No. 6 Baylor, No. 13 Michigan, No. 16 USC, No. 31 California, Arizona State, Cornell, Idaho and Purdue.

Junior Johannes Schretter leads the Bears in the latest ITA singles rankings at No. 42, followed by senior Will Little at No. 65 and sophomore Matias Soto at a career-best No. 77.

Senior Jimmy Bendeck teams up with sophomore Sven Lah to be the second-ranked doubles duo in the latest ITA rankings.

If BU beats Idaho, it will play the winner of fourth-seeded and No. 31 California vs. Purdue Saturday at 4 p.m. CT. A loss would put the Bears in the consolation bracket Saturday at 7 p.m. CT against Cal or Purdue.

The tournament champion will be determined on Sunday.
