WACO, TX — The No. 50-ranked Baylor women’s tennis team opens Big 12 Conference play Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center at 3 p.m. with TCU coming to town. The Bears are looking to end a nine-match losing skid while improving on a six-match win streak vs. the Horned Frogs.

Baylor has been playing short-handed as of late with just four players active at Michigan March 1 and just six available at Ohio State March 3. Several players are day-to-day with nagging injuries, but sophomore Livia Kraus and junior Jessica Hinojosa have continued strong play on the singles courts while the Bears look to get back to full health.

Hinojosa was ranked No. 121 by the ITA for her first-ever national ranking in singles while Kraus moved up to No. 59 Tuesday. Kraus is 8-5 on the season in dual play, including a 7-4 mark at No. 1 singles. Hinojosa has a 10-5 record in dual play to lead Baylor, including an 8-3 mark on the No. 2 singles court.

The Bears are 4-2 at home this season, but Thursday will likely mark the first time all season that Baylor will play outdoors.

TCU enters the match with a 6-4 record and the match will also serve as the league opener for the Horned Frogs. After beginning the season at 5-0, TCU has dropped four of its last five.
