STORY LINES
• Baylor travels to Austin for its final Big 12 series of the 2019 season against No. 10 Texas. The two teams met earlier this season with Texas prevailing, 2-0.
• This will be Baylor's first game away from home in nearly a month as the Lady Bears have played their last 11 games in Waco. BU's last road game was April 7 at Oklahoma.
• BU has the No. 2 strength of schedule in the country. The Lady Bears have played only eight games to teams outside the RPI Top 100 (Kansas, UTSA, Central Arkansas and Southern Utah).
• Baylor has played eight games vs. RPI Top 10 teams. The Lady Bears will play two more vs. a Texas team ranked sixth in this week's RPI.
• Overall, BU has played 19 games vs. the RPI Top 25. That's 38 percent of Baylor's schedule.
• On Thursday, Baylor earned six selections to the 62-member 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Softball teams, announced by the conference office.
• For the 12th straight season, six Lady Bears earned Academic All-Big 12 honors. It also marks the 17th consecutive season that five or more Lady Bears were honored.
• Taylor Ellis [baylorbears.com], Goose McGlaun [baylorbears.com], Madi O'Neal [baylorbears.com] and Hannah Thompson [baylorbears.com] were all selected as Academic All-Big 12 first team honorees, while Alyssa Avalos [baylorbears.com] and Regan Green [baylorbears.com] received second team honors.
• Baylor is 14-6 when scoring first in 2019.
• The Lady Bears are 15-4 when the opponent scores two runs or less this season.
• Regan Green [baylorbears.com] was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week March 5, marking her first career Big 12 weekly award. It is also Baylor's first weekly award of the season. Green pitched a complete game in the win over Southern Utah and matched her career high with 11 strikeouts. She struck out 50 percent of the batters she faced (22). It also marked her fourth career double-digit strikeout game.
• Nicky Dawson [baylorbears.com] reached base safely in 32 straight games to start this season. That is good enough for fourth in program history behind Kaitlyn Thumann 44 (2013), Lindsey Cargill 36 (2017) and Shelby Friudenberg [baylorbears.com] 33 (2017).
