SAN MARCOS, TX — Baylor (11-8) held off a Texas State team hoping to rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to clinch a 4-1 victory at Bobcat Softball Stadium on Wednesday.

Baylor got things going offensively in the third quarter as Josie Bower singled up the middle and Nicky Dawson singled to third base to put two runners on with one out. That set things up for Kassidy Krupit who launched her sixth home run of the year over the right field wall to put the Lady Bears up by three runs.

Meanwhile, the Baylor defense continued to put up zeroes. The Lady Bears retired the first 10 batters they saw as starting pitcher Sidney Holman finished with four strikeouts.

Baylor added another run in the top of the sixth inning. Madi O’Neal hit a fly ball to shallow left field that caused some confusion. The error allowed her to reach base safely and Alyssa Avalos to score from third base.

Texas State threatened in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs, but Regan Green came into the circle to get the final out.
