WACO, TEXAS — Baylor soccer is back in business Friday night in a huge non-conference matchup with No. 2 USC.

The Bears come into the match in the midst of a rough patch. In its last three games, Baylor has lost two matches and tied one.

But, the Bears have a history of success against the Trojans. Two years ago, they knocked USC out of the NCAA Tournament with a win on penalty kicks. USC was the reigning National Champions at the time.

It is no secret how big a win over a top-two team would be for the Bears. But, no matter the result, it will be an important test with conference play right around the corner.

"I think this is an awesome opportunity for us as a team," senior defender Kylie Ross said. "We can really just see where our strengths and our weaknesses are, and this early on it's great to know what those things are going into Big 12 play, because it's only gonna make us better."

The Bears will take the field Friday night at 6 p.m. The first 500 fans to show up for the game will receive a free Baylor Soccer scarf.

"We've had a couple of good practices the past few days and some good challenging games the past few games," freshman midfielder Maddie Algya said. "I think we're really growing as a team, and I think this game will definitely show what we've been working for."
