MANHATTAN, KS — For the first time since 2015, the Baylor soccer team is off to a 1-0 start in Big 12 play as the Bears defeated Kansas State, 1-0, in double overtime Thursday night in Manhattan, Kan.

In the 103rd minute, Ally Henderson booted a corner kick that Giuliana Cunningham headed into the back of the net for the golden goal. It marked Cunningham’s second goal in a week and Henderson’s second assist in five days. Henderson also assisted on the golden goal against Gonzaga off a corner kick this past Sunday.

The Bears finished the match with a 26-10 advantage in shots, with half of them on target. Eva Mitchell led the Bears with six shots, four of them on goal. Taylor Moon, who logged a season-high 47 minutes, had all three of her shot attempts on target.

While Baylor recorded its highest number of shots on the season, Kansas State didn’t take a shot until the 31st minute. The Bears backline didn’t let much through on the night. Danielle Hayden had several blocks. Jennifer Wandt finished with four saves.
