Baylor men's golf tied for 9th at Valspar Collegiate

PALM CITY, FL — Baylor men’s golf finished tied for ninth place after shooting 4-under-par 848 across three rounds in the Valspar Collegiate. The Bears shot 5-under 279 in the second round on Monday morning and finished with a 1-over 285 in the final round on Monday afternoon at Floridian National Golf Club. Results were finalized on Tuesday morning when the final two teams completed their third rounds.

No. 23 Baylor (-4) tied with No. 30 Florida State (-4) and placed ahead of No. 11 LSU (+1), No. 9 Georgia Tech (+3), Houston (+11), No. 35 Arkansas (+17) and No. 20 South Florida (+31). The Bears placed behind No. 6 Wake Forest (-25), No. 13 Auburn (-19), No. 31 South Carolina (-15), No. 1 Oklahoma State (-14), No. 3 Vanderbilt (-11), No. 27 Texas A&M (-6), No. 2 Duke (-5) and No. 8 Texas (-5).

Bradley Bailey shot 2-under 69 in the morning and even-par 71 in the afternoon to finish tied for fifth place at 7-under 206 for the tournament. It was Bailey’s ninth career top-5 finish, which ranks seventh in program history, and he moved into a tie for fifth in program history with his 18th career top-10 finish.

Cooper Dossey shot 1-under 70 and even-par 71 on Monday to finish tied for 33rd place at 1-over 214. Colin Kober posted 1-under 70 and 4-over 75 to tie for 43rd place at 4-over 217. Garrett May bounced back from a 9-over first round to shoot 1-under 70 and 2-under 69 on Monday, climbing 26 spots from 77th place to a tie for 51st place at 6-over 219. Ryan Grider shot 2-over 73 in the second round and 3-over 74 in the final round to finish tied for 55th place at 7-over 220. Mark Reppe, who was competing as an individual, made seven birdies in the second round on his way to a 2-under 69 and finished with a 2-over 73 to tie for 33rd place at 1-over 214.
