Baylor A&T puts 13 on All-Academic team

WACO, TX — The No. 1-ranked Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team had 13 players named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team, as announced by the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday.

Of Baylor’s 13 players honored, three registered a perfect 4.0 grade point average in seniors Bailey Hollier and Gigi Mendoza and junior Alexsis Amrhein. Seniors Hope Bravo, Makenah Cotner, Ashley Echelberger and Kati Horstmann, juniors Mary Berdis, Joie Hensley and Hannah Schumacher, and sophomore Morgan Celum joined the trio in earning first team honors with a 3.20 GPA or higher.

Sophomores Briana Harris and Madison Kruse were selected to the second team with GPA’s between 3.00 and 3.19.

The Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team recognizes student-athletes in sports outside of Big 12 competition, including acrobatics and tumbling, beach volleyball, men’s gymnastics, men’s soccer and rifle. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulatively or in the two previous semesters, as well as having participated in at least 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible for selection.
