Texas Songwriter U is in search of the next great Texas songwriting talent.

Eight songwriters will be invited and the workshop is hosted by Jack Ingram plus talented mentors Jon Randall and Jessie Jo Dillon.

What do the eight Texas Songwriter U All-Star finalists receive?

  • An invitation to Austin, December 11-13, 2019 with travel reimbursement up to $200 for provided receipts
  • A two-night stay at Austin’s celebrated Hotel Ella, a residence of impeccable service, refinement, and style
  • A one-year membership to NSAI
  • Meals provided
  • A two-day songwriting workshop moderated by Jack Ingram and mentors Jon Randall and Jessie Jo Dillon
  • Two incredible performances in Austin. First, they will perform in a private Texas Songwriter U Kick-Off event at Yeti Flagship on the evening of Wednesday, December 11. On Thursday, December 12 at 8 p.m., a Texas Songwriter U Showcase will highlight each finalist, hosting a live music performance before a packed house in Austin’s premier listening room, The Saxon Pub. Texas Songwriter U will honor these finalists, and each will perform during a two-hour session following performances by Jack, Jon and Jessie Jo.
  • Direct and in-depth song feedback from Jack Ingram and workshop mentors
  • An "Industry Day" workshop format on Day 2, where finalists will get exposure to industry leaders such as publishers, PROs, booking agents, artist managers, tour managers, venue owners, and more, including special guest Bart Herbison, Executive Director of the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
  • Professional photography keepsakes highlighting the workshop and showcase experience by professional music photographer Ted Parker, Jr.
  • Surprise drop-ins during our two-day workshop
  • Post-event support from our workshop leaders, such as social support, relationship building, and when possible, future performance placement

TxSU Selected Songwriter: What does the winner receive?

  • An opportunity to co-write one song with Jack Ingram
  • An opening for Jack Ingram at a landmark Texas venue
  • A performance at the 2020 MJM (Mack, Jack & McConaughey) charity after-pick party, (travel not paid)
  • A recording studio demo session at Austin's famed Arlyn Studios, (travel not paid).
  • A new Epiphone Masterbilt Century Deluxe Acoustic Electric guitar
  • A three-night stay and two performances at the 2020 Key West Songwriter's Festival (travel AND hotel paid)
