It's not your typical reunion. A family from Texas has reunited with their dog, Daisy, after nine years.

Daisy is a 10 year old Blue Heeler that Laura Gattarello got as a sweet 8 week old puppy. After a year, Gattarello had to give Daisy away. In June of 2010, she found her a home in San Saba, TX. She kept up with her new owners for a while and then didn’t hear anything from them so in 2012 Gattarello had her microchip switched to “deceased."

On July 3, 2019 Gattarello had a phone call from Sumner County Animal Shelter. She was shocked to find out that animal control found Daisy on a random road in Portland, Tennessee. They were able to scan Daisy's microchip that still had Gattarello's information. After going home to speak with her husband, they both agreed to drive 13 hours to bring Daisy home to Texas.

"We rented a car," said Gattarello, "with my 3 and 5-year-old, our service dog, my husband and myself, we decided to bring Daisy home."

Daisy seems to be in good spirits. She was stepped on by a horse when she was 3 months old and still has a limp. She is also heartworm positive. If you want to help the family financially, click here . Any extra money they receive they will donate to Sumner County Animal Control.
