Walmart has announced they are converting 160 of their store parking lots in the US into drive-in movie theaters.

The retailer announced a partnership with Tribeca Enterprises to show a selection of films beginning in August, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to force the public to socially distance.

"Get ready for the most amazing family drive-in movie tour ever," the announcement said. "Starting in early August, we're popping up safe, socially distanced drive-in events at Walmart Supercenters across America."

The Walmart drive-in theaters will take place through October and offer car-side food and drink service as well.

Walmart will roll out this red carpet experience in towns across the country for a combined 320 showings. "This family-friendly night will include hit movies, special appearances from filmmakers and celebrities and concessions delivered right to customer vehicles," the press release states.

Locations and a list of films to be shown have not yet been released.
