A petition circulating in Tennessee is calling for Confederate monuments to be replaced with statues of Dolly Parton.

Alex Parsons started a change.org petition on June 11, asking Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee House and Senate to consider replacing confederate monuments with statues of Dolly Parton.

The petition creator argues that Tennessee is full of statues memorializing Confederate officers and thinks it's a better idea to honor "a true Tennessee hero, Dolly Parton" with monuments.

"Let's replace the statues of men who sought to tear this country apart with a monument to the woman who has worked her entire life to bring us closer together," Parsons wrote in the petition.

The petitionhas almost 3,000 signatures with a goal of 5,000.
