FLORIDA — An Amazon driver is being hailed as a hero for saving an elderly man stuck in a burning home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

The incident happened while the driver was doing his delivery round Friday afternoon.

Amazon driver Sean Campbell was down the street from the fire when he heard women screaming. He dropped his packages and ran to the scene.

"I heard the screaming and when you hear something like that, you have to go to it," said Campbell.

A fire that started in the garage was quickly blowing up and though an elderly woman got out with help from a neighbor, an elderly man was still inside.

Campbell ripped open the front door.

"He was in the kitchen you know with his walker just standing there. I don't think he really knew what was going on I was like 'sir c'mon I need to help you, c'mon let's get lets get out,'" said Campbell.

The elderly couple's son wasn't home when the fire broke out, but he arrived back a short time later, so grateful his parents were rescued and saved.

Tim West says no doubt the Amazon driver is a hero.

"It was fantastic he was both here and able to go inside and brave enough to go inside, we really appreciate that," said West.

Campbell says though it was an urgent situation, the victim could not move quickly, so he had to be calm, but convincing.

"He was trying to grab his walker. I was like 'no, we got to move, this is, with the pace, you got to see another day.'"

The house isn't considered a total loss but it's certainly not livable. Luckily, the family has a grandson living nearby who they can stay with.

Firefighters were able to rescue the family dog, but it was neighbors and a quick and willing Amazon delivery driver who made a real difference here.
