CHINA SPRING, TX — A video posted to the China Spring Community page appears to show one China Spring student-athlete yelling, shoving and grabbing another student in the locker room.
The post has since been deleted.
The student grabs the other by his shirt, shoving him against the locker as he yells at him. Other students are present in the locker room, standing by as the incident occurs.
The father of the student seen being yelled at and shoved in the video stated he doesn't believe the incident to be a case of bullying, but would rather call it a locker room/territory dispute. But he does believe the kid abused his seniority "over emotionally."
He also says he believes the school handled the situation properly.
As the parent of the student in junior varsity getting yelled at, I do not think this is an instance of bullying. I would rather call it a locker room/territory dispute. My son went into the varsity locker room. However, I think that the other kid abused his seniority over emotionally and my son didn't even want to tell on the kid because he doesn't want to be labeled the jailhouse snitch. Of course, once the video surfaced, it has went viral. I personally know the other family involved and if my child made an isolated incident, I would not want it to ruin him. I put this in the coaches and God's hands that it was handled properly and can assure you that we do not want to give the school a hard time. If this would have happened at Waco High or Bosqueville where I played, we would have been fighting or had a heck of a practice. I think we can use this as a tool to enable kids that truly are being bullied continuously to speak out if you have endured or seen something. In conclusion, I think my son handled it properly and the school as well. Let's move on. The kids already have. Although I was infuriated at first, I'm thankful it wasn't something way worse.
