COPPERAS COVE, TX — Everyday heroes can go unnoticed, but two Central Texas students were not forgotten this year
Fifteen out of the five million public school students in Texas are honored as heroes each year. This year, two are from Copperas Cove.
2019 Five Hills Ambassador Briana Liles and 2019 Little Mister Five Hills Noah Spitzer were selected based on their work with their pageant community service projects.
Both Noah and Briana say they couldn’t be happier to receive the honor
“I felt very surprised and proud I would guess I would say. I never knew I was even in it, so that’s why I was very, very surprised," said Noah.
“It was actually overwhelming. It was like really amazing because there were so many kids that could have got it and I'm one of those lucky kids that got it, " added Briana.
Noah was nominated for his devotion to reading and sharing his passion with his classmates through little library drop boxes for other students to pick up and read the books he dropped off for free.
Briana was nominated to be a Texas Student Hero after raising $7,000 over the last two years to send children with alopecia to a camp hosted by the Children’s Alopecia Project.
