With Thanksgiving days away, many people are making trips to the grocery store. On average, a Texas-style Thanksgiving dinner for 10 will cost $48.01 this year, which is down 48 cents, according to the special Texas Farm Bureau Thanksgiving Meal Report.
It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without turkey. On average, a turkey will cost about $1.21 per pound, which is slightly less than last year. Fresh sweet potatoes are up about 20%, costing $3.66. Frozen pie shells are up 4.5% at $2.55.
Savvy shoppers are looking to save anyway they can.
“I like to coupon, so if I get a great deal that’s a winner in my book,” said Audrey Butry of Killeen.
But with many customers eyeing the best deals, grocers are offering sweet deals to entice shoppers.
“We start our grocery shopping early and look for the sales online and apps. That’s the best way to do it,” said Keioka Norfleet.
