Texas Rangers investigate shooting involving off-duty reserve police officer; one injured

GROESBECK, TX — Groesbeck Police Department responded to a shooting early Sunday morning involving an off-duty reserve Groesbeck Police Officer.

The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Allison Avenue when police say a disturbance occurred between a small group of people.

Shots were fired and then one person was struck. The injured person was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Police believe the person is in stable condition.

One person involved in the shooting is an off-duty reserve Groesbeck Police Officer. So the investigation is being turned over to the Texas Rangers, according to a statement released by Chief Henson.

The Texas Rangers responded to the scene to take command, and the investigation is ongoing.

Chief Henson says any inquiries should be directed to the Texas Rangers.
