COPPERAS COVE, TX — A Copperas Cove tattoo artist used his talents to support the Relay for Life of Copperas Cove and Lampasas.

Event sponsorship organizers asked Forever Tattoo owner Chris Bailey if he would help support the cause.

"Sponsorship starts at about $250, I said, I can’t give you $250 right now,” said Bailey.

But he still wanted to help.

"We set it up to do $50 ribbons, and whatever we got done is what we got done. So ended up doing $900 for them, which is way more than I would have been able to just sponsor,” he said.

Eric Hall, one of the sponsorship organizers, was one of 18 people who got inked with a purple ribbon.

"What’s a better way to show support than getting a ribbon tattoo?” Hall said.

Hall now has a permanent reminder of Bailey’s generosity, and the mission to end a disease that has claimed countless lives.

"You gotta be grateful for what you have. There’s always people with more, but there’s always people with less so you just do what you can do and give your kids an example of how they should be when they get older and just do the best you can on any given day,” said Bailey.

The Relay for Life of Copperas Cove and Lampasas will be held at the S C Lee Junior High Hanke Stadium on Saturday.

The have surpassed their goal, but they are still eager to raise more funds.
