Students at Whitney ISD will get an unexcused absence if they miss school on Friday due to a threat found in the high school boys' bathroom.

Superintendent Gene Solis said there will be added police presence on campus on Friday, but letting students not attend school would be giving the person who wrote the threat control of the situation.

"We encourage you to send your child to school on Friday so that the perpetrator of the message DOES NOT have control," Solis said.

The school will run as normal on Friday.

"We understand if you choose to keep your child home. We ask that you understand our position on this absence being unexcused," Solis added.
