MILLS COUNTY, TX — A woman was arrested and charged after a sheriff's office said she physically abused children at a day care.

According to the Mills County Sheriff's Office, in August 2018, they received a report from the Texas Department of Family Protective Services stating that there were allegations of physical abuse at Ms. Sharon's Daycare.

The day care was owned by 59-year-old Sharon Riewe in Goldthwaite.

An investigation began after the allegations.

Through numerous interviews with both the current and prior attendees of the day care, along with the parents, the investigation revealed that there were instances of physical abuse.

The victims ranged from 3 - 8 years old.

During the investigation, it was also revealed that there had been other allegations of the same nature that was investigated by the state in 2007 and 2013.

As the investigation went on, more families came forward to report what their child experienced.

This was presented to the Mills Count Grand Jury in May. The jury returned indictments of 13 counts of injury to a child.

On May 11, Riewe turned herself in to the Lampasas Police Department and was booked into the Lampasas County Jail on 13 counts of injury to a child.
