WASHINGTON, D.C. (KXXV) — The nation’s longest government shutdown edged closer to a resolution Monday after a small group of mostly Senate Democrats reached an agreement with Republicans, leading to a 60-40 vote that broke a six-week stalemate.

The closure could persist for several more days as the House — recessed since mid-September — returns to Washington to vote on the measure.
