COPPERAS COVE, TX — A man was arrested and charged after police say he was involved in an accident, then fled the scene.
Copperas Cove police said at approximately 6:42 p.m. on Saturday, officers and firefighters responded to the 200 block of W Business Highway 190 regarding a two-vehicle accident.
When officers arrived, they said one of the drivers, Robert Bikoski, was not breathing. Officers and EMS performed life-saving measures on Bikoski, but he died from his injuries.
He was pronounced dead by a Justice of the Peace.
Witnesses on the scene told officers that the driver of the other vehicle had fled the scene. The driver was then seen a short time later when a witness saw him.
Officers caught up to the suspect and he was identified as Daniel Burcham. He appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants.
Burcham was arrested and transported to the Copperas Cove Jail.
He was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
His bond is set at $100,000.
Police are still investigating the incident.
