NAVARRO COUNTY — The Navarro County Sheriff's office arrested a man Saturday who is accused of injuring his three-week-old baby.

On Saturday, Corsicana Fire and Rescue responded to a medical emergency involving the newborn. After evaluating the child, officials say they became concerned about the significance of the injury being consistent with the story they had been told.

Corsicana Fire and Rescue then requested a deputy respond to the hospital and conduct an investigation.

The child had to be life-flighted to a Dallas area hospital because of the severity of the injuries, said officials.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for the child's father for Injury to a Child.

The suspect was arrested late Saturday night by the Dallas County Hospital District Police, at the same hospital where the child had been transported.

Since the investigation is ongoing, no other details are being released at this time, said Sheriff Elmer Tanner.
