UPDATE:
Belton officials confirm the 17-year-old shot in the head on December 30, 2025 has died.
The victim, who died Saturday, is identified as Josiah Alcozer.
Investigators say the teen and others at a home on W. Avenue I were handling a gun when it went off, hitting Alcozer.

Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old male with life-threatening injuries on Tuesday evening in Belton.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. Dec. 30 in the 800 block of West Avenue. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a local hospital.
The Belton Police Department said there is no threat to the public.
