A 72-year-old man from Moody is dead after a rollover crash Saturday afternoon on FM 2671 in Coryell County.

Texas DPS Troopers responded to a report of a one vehicle major crash on FM 2671, 7 miles east of Moody on Dec. 19 around 5:50 PM.

A 2014 Cadillac Sedan, operated by a 30 year old male from McGregor, was traveling southbound attempting to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed, according to DPS.

Investigation revealed that the driver failed to pass when safe, ran off of the roadway, struck a culvert, and rolled over multiple times.

The Cadillac’s passenger, identified as Luis D. Medina, 72 years old of Moody, was not secured by his safety belt and was ejected.

Justice of the Peace James Caldwell pronounced Medina deceased on scene.

The driver was transported to Scott and White ER for incapacitating injuries, according to DPS.
