MARLIN, TX — Marlin High School and Marlin Middle School will temporarily enter remote learning for the rest of the week due to COVID-19, according to the district.

Marlin Middle School and Marlin High School will enact remote instruction only on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Sept 23-25th, to return on Monday, Sept 28th.

"This decision to transition to remote only instruction for the two campuses was not reached lightly and was made solely with an abundance of caution and respect for you and our students," Marlin ISD Superintendent Dr. Darryl Henson said in a letter to parents.

During remote only instruction, Marlin ISD will:

• Deep clean the entire building to prepare for the safe return of our students

• All staff will be available during school hours to assist students with academic needs

• Will monitor the progress of reports and determine the next steps for re-opening the facility

Out of Marlin Middle School's 197 students and 23 staff, 2 staff and 4 students have contracted COVID-19.

Within Marlin High School's 222 students and 27 staff, 2 staff and 5 students have contracted COVID-19.

Students must log in to Google Classroom and make contact with all of their teachers each day to have their attendance counted as present.
